5-7-25 THOUGHTS
Having the mind of Christ ought to be the focus of our minds continually. What would Jesus do, think or say if He was here? From our reading, SELFISHNESS is not an option! Humility and looking to the interests of others as our choice, because it was Christ’s way! This is the look of LOVE... it is the LOVE OF GOD shown in Christ Jesus. John 1:18 “No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained [Him.]”
Php 2:1-8 Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, 2 make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. 3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; 4 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. 5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
My Prayer:
Father, teach us the selfless humility that allows us to love truly and fully. Help us to avoid the grasping of the fleshly side of our lives. May we be like Jesus! Help us to learn to empty ourselves, that we may be filled with Jesus and You, O God. Give us the “mindset” that looks to the interests of others. May the joy of an outward-looking heart sustain us in our bearing of fruit as heaven approaches. In the name of our saving example, Amen.
